What types of bottles will you accept?

The bottles I will accept must be:

  • .5 oz. to 1 oz. in size - I cannot use bottles bigger than this, at this time.

  • Plastic or glass - however, you must package your bottles in a way that ensures they will not break in transport  (I cannot accept broken or crushed bottles, even if they were whole and in great condition when you shipped them.)

  • Good quality - they must be sturdy enough that they can be reused and reshipped many times.

  • Leak proof - all the bottles you send must have a tight-fitting, screw-on lid that will not leak if the bottle is filled with liquid - if the bottles have never previously contained liquid, please test them by filling them with water, screwing on the cap, and turning them upside-down for at least twenty seconds

  • Free from toxic substances or residue

  • Free from dried-on paints or other substances that cannot be removed  (Most painted-on labels are removeable.  I will take care of removing labels.)

  • Shipped from the continental United States or Canada

  • Able to fit inside a mailing envelope no larger than 6"x9" - this is the size of the mailing envelope I provide to "Bottle Recovery" members (I am currently unable to give store credit for quantities larger than this)

What types of bottles CAN'T you accept?

Unfortunately, I cannot accept all types of bottles.  I reserve the right to reject bottles that do not meet my requirements, even if you have already shipped them to me.   Bottles that I cannot accept are the following:

  • Larger than 1.5 oz.

  • Broken - even if they were not broken when you shipped them

  • Leaky

  • Without tight-fitting, leak-proof lids

  • Made of thin or poor-quality materials - you should not be able to easily squish, crunch, or break the bottle in you hand

  • Containing any amount of toxic substances

  • Crusted with paint or dried-on residue that cannot be removed - painted-on labels are an exception

  • Shipped from outside the continental United States or Canada

  • Large quantities - more than can reasonably fit inside the 6"x9" mailing envelope that I will include inside all your orders, once you have registered for this program

Do I need to clean the bottles before returning them?

You do not need to clean the bottles if the substance they previously contained is not toxic.  If, however, there is a chance the substances the bottles contain may become dried on and unremovable before I receive the bottle, please rinse the bottle clean before shipping.  If the bottle contains a bead (the type used for shaking and mixing liquids) please leave the bead in the bottle so that it can be reused along with the bottle.

Is there a minimum number of bottles I need to return in order to get store credit?

Yes.  Please ship no fewer than three bottles at a time.

Is there a maximum number of bottles I can send to you?

Yes.  At this time, I can give store credit for no more bottles than you can reasonable fit into a 6"x9" mailing envelope.  I will include a compostable 6"x9" envelope with every order I ship to you, once you have signed up for the "Bottle Recovery" program

Will you accept bottles that I did not originally purchase from the DappledThingsbyAmy Etsy shop?

Yes.  If they meet all the other requirements.  Please refer to "What types of bottles will you accept?" and "What types of bottles CAN'T you accept?" in the frequently asked questions, above.

When can I expect to see my store credit in your shop?

You will see your store credit in your Etsy shop within 2-5 business days from the day I receive your shipment of bottles.

What will you do with the bottles I ship to you?

Will you accept bottles shipped from anywhere on this planet?

How can I refer a friend to this program?

Do I have to ship the bottles in the compostable, 6"x9" envelope you sent me?

Yes.  I would love to accept bottles from anyone, anywhere but I need to be able to have some control over the quantities of bottles sent to me and who sends them.  I am reserving the right to participate in this program to registered members, only.  If you are registered, I will automatically include a free mailing envelope with every purchase you make from by Etsy shop.  If you are a registered member and you need a 6"x9" envelope for mailing your bottles, please contact me through my website or my Etsy store and I will ship up to five envelopes to you, free of charge.  Please do not return more than one envelope filled with bottles in a two week period.
